Reviews of CAPTIVE

If you've ever seen the Australian film "Restraint," starring the infinitely hot Stephen Moyer, then you no doubt remember it as crackling with homoerotic sexual tension between a violent criminal and his house-bound captive. In "Captive," Scarlet Blackwell has distilled the tension and danger into a tightly woven, suspenseful guy-dominates-guy tale.

Rating: 41/2 out of 5 Stars.

An Alaskan retreat seems to be the perfect location for author Gabriel Black to work on his latest novel. Gabriel has a deadline looming on the horizon and hopes the hideaway’s solace will allow some peace and quiet. When Ethan, an armed trespasser, makes his presence known, he turns Gabriel’s winter abode into an inescapable prison. Gabriel’s desire to work changes to a quest for survival, and the author isn’t above using seduction to escape.

When a man breaks into his home and holds him captive, Gabriel is stunned and scared.  Ethan is an angry and demanding captor. He berates Gabriel for being gay, but Gabriel sees heat in his eyes when Ethan looks at him.  Even as he binds him, Ethan can’t deny his feelings for Gabriel for long.

Reality and fantasy mix in Captive. I was on edge, wondering where things were going and how the story would end.

Reviews of APATHY

Scarlet Blackwell has captured the essence of true love. Two people who are meant only for each other, and who manage to be apart are a painful pair indeed, and Kristian is at the mercy of his pain and loss.

Apathy by Scarlet Blackwell is a very short novella at only twenty five pages, but it is packed with such intense emotions. This book shows us that we can’t help who we fall in love with, and sometimes, you just have to let yourself love, and not care what others think.

This is a story about stubborn foolish misplaced reactions. There’s more than a large helping of loss. But dessert comes in the form of second chances.

At moments, my indecision and failed attempts at love reminded me so much of Kristian I thought Ms. Blackwell wrote this story about me.

Reviews of STAND AND DELIVER

The main characters are very vivid and well written. With one being the dark broken spirited hero, that needs love to heal him. Another is the lonely man who has given up on happiness long ago. Their quest to heal their wounds and maybe find love while doing it, makes you keep reading.

Reviews of LIFE CLASS

I enjoy the way Scarlet Blackwell writes a book. This is the second one I have picked up and both books have had compelling and complicated characters that rang true. I can feel her characters and get emotionally attached to them. They aren’t perfect. They don’t make the right decisions all the time. In this book Ryan, a straight painter’s model/gigolo struggles so hard to understand himself without really trying to understand himself. I know so many men and boys that try to shortcut their emotions like this.

I
I closed LIFE CLASS with a sense of satisfaction and the slight disappointment that it was over. That hasn’t happened to me in a long time.

Reviews of JUST DESSERTS

This is one of the funniest romances I’ve read in a long time.  The characters have a sharp, naughty wit that they use like master warriors.
